Veterans Day is a Holiday that celebrates the end of the war I In November 11,1918. Before this holiday was called Veterans day it was called Armistice Day, the name changed to Veterans Day because president Eisenhower changed it. This day Honors the soldiers who served in the war. Schools, banks, and many other business are closed for the day.People go to the veteran's graves and put flowers on their tombs.






People celebrate Veterans Day by going to parades, speeches, and by placing flowers on the soldiers graves. In 1938, November 11veterans day became a national holiday, there were 23.2 million military veterans in the U.S. in 2008. 1.8 of the soldiers were females, 1.1 million were Hispanic, 9.2 million were 65 and older, and 1.9 million were younger than 35. American people honor the women and men that served in the United States armed service . the time people start celebration is at 11:00 a.m. .The time of the celebration of Veterans day was chosen because that was the time the World War I ended in 1918. On November 11, 1921, the body of an unknown American soldier was buried in Arlington National cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
