Thanksgiving By: Zaira Sandoval Holmes middle school

Happy Thanksgiving

In November 1620 is when the Europeans or the Pilgrims arrived on Plymouth, Ma. The Europeans were cold, sick, and tired from the 65 days of the long trip across the Atlantic Ocean in the ship The MAYFLOWER. The people didn't have houses, so they needed to cut down trees to make their houses. In the Winter the day and night were very cold. As a result, many Pilgrims died before the Summer started. The food they had brought from England was all most gone.
Luckily, friendly Indians showed the Pilgrims how to catch fish and clams, and showed them where to hunt for deer. In the fall, they harvested their corn crops. They filled baskets with vegetables, and more baskets with corn for the falling winter. The Pilgrims were happy and decided on a special day to give thanks for their good fortune. The Indians joined them and ate on long wooden tables. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday in November.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is on every Thursday in November. The firstThanksgiving was celebrated in 1621,they have landed on Plymouth by one ship called Mayflower.Thanksgiving is when the Indians and thePilgrims had a big feast at the wooden table. The Indians were very helpful to the Pilgrims, they help them with the fishing and the harvesting.

The Pilgrims got help from the Indians who taught them how to fish, hunt for deers, and plant corn. They celebrated thanksgiving with food like turkey and some time they ate pumpkin pie.The Indian helped the Pilgrims do almost everything, well, that is the story from my perspective.

Veterans Day by Elizabeth Martinez RHS

In the United States, the American people honor their veterans with parades and speeches.Special services are held in every part of the country, but very special services are held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

On November 11,1921,the body of an unknown American soldier was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington,Virginia. We call this place the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The soldier who was buried in Arlington National Cemetery was killed in World War I.No one knows who he was. That is why he is called the Unknown Soldier.

The American people are not honoring just one unknown soldier at the tomb. They are honoring all members of the United States armed services,a soldier guards this famous memorial both day and night. The following words are on the Unknown Soldier tomb.

" HERE RESTS IN HONORED GLORY ,AN AMERICAN SOLDIER KNOWN
BUT TO GOD "

Veterans Day By Andres Garcia Alvarez at HMS

Armistice day known as "Veterans Day". Veterans Day happens too be on the 11 of November. Veterans Day used to be called Armistice Day until president Eisenhower changed it to Veterans Day. Many people celebrated Veterans Day by parades and going to funerals. The reason why people go to funerals is cause many people who served during the war died. That's why we got Veterans Day, to thank those who served during the war. once Veterans Day was changed on the fourth Monday of October, but the congress changed it back to November 11. many people thought that world war 1 was suppose to end all wars, but that dream had been shattered when world war 2 started. Many soldiers died in the great war, about 400,000 died in the war.

The 5 u s.c establishes the federal holidays New years, The birth of Martin Luther King, JR. Washington's birth day, memorial day, independence day, labor day,Columbus day, veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. many people do not get to celebrate this holidays because some may not have a home or a family to celebrate them with. some do get to celebrate them as a family. Most families don't get to celebrate this holidays because most of their parents have work.

On veterans day everyone gets to celebrate veterans day. The reason why they get to celebrate it is because every thing is closed on that day. Banks, schools, and many other stores closed on that day. So kids, parents, and other relatives join together and have cook out and parties. some people go to the soldiers graveyards and say prayers and thank them for their sacrifices they made for their country, but were do they keep their graves at? they keep them at the Arlington national park cemetery.

One day the united states and other countries buried an unknown soldier at the highest point. they buried them to represent that the great war was over and was suppose to and all wars. Unfortunately their dreams had been shattered when war broke out in Europe. thee united states sent half a billon of soldiers and more than four thousand came back. That when world war 2 broke out.

Many american are not honoring the unknown soldier, they are honoring all the mambers of the U.S armed service. They are always going to honor those who served during the wars. No one who is died should be left out, they all should be honored and givin the thanks. A soldier gaurds the famous memorial both day and night.

That's why we celebrate Veterans Day every November 11. .Here is what most people say:

Here rests in honored glory, an American soildier known but to God
